SSB wins Prince of Wales Award |

Sustainable South Brent has won this year’s Prince of Wales Award. The Award is offered each year by the Devon County Agricultural Association for community projects geared to sustainability. It carries a cash prize of £1,000, donated by the Prince of Wales.
“Sustainable South Brent stood out from among the finalists of this year’s Prince of Wales Award competition because of both the range of its activities and the age-range of its members”, said Professor Ian Mercer, one of the judges.

Sustainable South Brent's BIG Public Meeting |
|

It was generally agreed that it was a brilliant evening, confirmed by peoples’ comments and the feedback forms and the number of new volunteers it generated.
People particularly mentioned how well organised it was. And there was still time for an impromptu exodus mid-way through, led by Noel Goodey, to view the Moon, Venus and Mars in a stunning clear night sky!
A total of 60 to 70 people attended on the night.

Low Energy Light Bulb Recycling |
|
You can now recycle your low energy light bulbs at Wakeleys, in Station Yard.
Low energy bulbs do contain a very small amount of mercury and are therefore hazardous in landfill. During recycling the mercury can be safely removed and reused. Rare earth phosphors can also be recovered.
