Half-term food workshop and café
19 February @ 9:30 am - 2:00 pm
Half-term food workshop and café from 9.30am – 2.00pm in the Old School Community Centre. Following the very successful Harvest half-term workshop and cafe this will be a similar event: Children are invited to be chefs for the morning and more senior members of the village are warmly invited to sample the food by coming to lunch. Join us if you can, and watch out for more information on posters around the village. Organised by Sustainable South Brent’s Food@SB Project.
Registration forms also available in artworks. Bring with you to the event or email completed form to firstname.lastname@example.org.
A fun cooking workshop for all ages followed by a free lunch for all in the South Brent Parish community from 12 noon to 1.30pm. Learn safe cutting techniques and simple recipes to encourage cooking at home. Food worker Karin and our fully trained, DBS certified volunteers will guide everyone. We provide ingredients and safe cutting tools. We have some aprons however it helps if you can bring an apron or an old shirt to go over your clothes.
*Children age 8 years and over can attend unaccompanied as long as their parent or carer is present to register them at 9.45am and to have lunch with them or collect them at midday. These are OFSTED rules and we must abide by them to have insurance for this event and to comply with the law.
*Children under 8 years old must be accompanied by a responsible adult, maximum three children under 8 to one responsible adult.
Allergies: Wheat free and Vegan options will be available, please make your allergies and intolerances known when you arrive. We regret we cannot offer a totally gluten, seed or nut free environment owing to other foods cooked in the kitchen.
The workshop is for families living in South Brent Parish and we cannot accept unaccompanied children under 8 years old. Spaces for unaccompanied children are limited and priority will be given to those who book in advance. You can also book by popping into Artworks, Station Road, South Brent which is open from 10am – 5pm and except Wed closing 1pm, closed Sun and Mon.
The Food@SB project helps to reduce stress around cooking and eating and has so far offered the Free Leek Giveaway & recipes, Family Lunch for a Fiver at Palstone Rec, a Street Food workshop and stall at South Brent School, Rumbling Tums Summer holiday workshops at the Palstone Rec, a Get the Kids Cooking Workshop with Pay what you feel cafe and South Brent Community Radio at The Old School and a Spring Harvest lunch Worksop with cafe.
