Led Bike Ride to explore the Primrose Trail
5 April @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Sunday 5 April 2020: Cycle the Primrose Trail. Join Sustrans volunteers for a spring cycle ride through the beautiful South Hams countryside. We will discover part of the old railway known as the Primrose Line that used to run alongside the River Avon from South Brent to Kingsbridge. We pass former railway stations, ride alongside the River Avon and view one of South Devon’s amazing Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The woods and hedgerows will be alive with wild flowers and the scents of spring. We will stop for lunch beside the river at Avon Mill Café before returning on a similar route. This ride is suitable for competent riders age 15 and over; under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and must be confident cyclists. It is suitable for electric bikes, but please bring your charger. There will be a choice of starts: 10am from the Watermark Centre, Ivybridge PL21 0SZ (total ride distance 32 miles) and 10.45am from Station Yard Car Park, South Brent TQ10 9BE (total ride distance 22miles). Register for the ride via www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/sustrans-7919028867 or for more information email firstname.lastname@example.org.
For information on the development of the proposed multi-purpose ‘Primrose Trail’ which seeks to provide a relatively easy route for everyone, as close as possible to the old ‘Primrose Line’ railway which closed in 1963, from the moor at South Brent to the sea at Kingsbridge, see www.primrosetrail.org/ and Facebook.
