Ongoing radio club

Radio days involved a multitude of features, interviews and recordings with input from a diverse range of groups and contributors. A monthly Radio Club has been established which continues to make features, curate ‘themed’ sessions, and share in the pleasure of making and listening to radio. We hope to secure funding for a particular youth focus for 2017.

South Brent Community Radio builds on the success of the two pilot days broadcast in 2013 (during which 20 people made features; 30 took part on the broadcast day; 800 listened online with 200 on FM and more than 150 used the 'listen again' facility). The project helps to celebrate the diversity and identity of the village community and helps to combat rural isolation, connecting people to local services and opportunities, providing a platform for creative expression and giving local people a voice on issues that directly affect their lives.

Access is offered to equipment; training in recording, editing and presenting skills plus the relevant technical, social, IT and internet related skills is provided and participants gain the experience of broadcasting to the community (and anyone in the world with an internet!).

You can now hear, or 'Listen again' to all the recent South Brent Community Radio broadcasts: Summer (Saturday 18 July 2015), Autumn (Sunday 18 October 2015) and Winter (Saturday 12 December 2015) at Soundcloud, including radio plays, interviews, poetry, sound art, music & more!

The South Brent Sound Map is an audio exploration into the South Brent Community.
