On Wednesday Richard Buckpitt brought his amazing machine to the Marsh site and, with the help of a number of volunteers was able to move the container we have used for the past 8 years to a slightly different position which opens up the site ready for building a new covered wood store. The move used the skills of Richard in the driving seat, Graham Grieve who guided Richard from the old to the new location and Joddy Chapman who found just the right points to add in stainless steel sheets (thanks to Tony Hopkins for providing these just when we needed them) which enabled the container to sit square on the concrete blocks. Harry Jennings had done lots of preparation since last Sunday and was assisted by Tony, David Butcher and John Hoare who also came well equipped with a jack to lift up the over 2 ton container so the steel sheets to be inserted.
We have begun the work specified on our planning application:
- The solar panel to charge the battery for the tumbler has been installed
- A tree has been removed which woudl have prevented the container from being moved
- The container has been moved.
The other work will be undertaken as soon as we have funding, materials and labour in place.
Alongside all of this we have been producing and selling large quantities of compost since the end of February.
Well done everyone. The changes are happening!
